My kids played with wood toys as they were growing up. A lot of these toys were things they made themselves just from blocks of wood. Children playing with wooden toys use their imaginations rather than just pushing a button and watching an electronic toy do its own thing. Most of their favorite toys of their childhood are the toys that their dad made for them out of wood. Today, kid's spend most of their time watching TV, playing computer games, and other electronic toys.
So much diversion is one of the reasons why many kids have short attention spans and want continuous entertainment. Wood toys help the kids use their own imaginations and permit their personalities to develop. If you look at all the toy ads in newspapers and magazines they will make you think you can't live without them. But they normally end up at the bottom of the toy box or in the back of the closet.
And, guess what? Another great advantage of wooden toys is that they don't need batteries. So, the dollars you can save not having to buy batteries might permit you to buy another wood toy for your child or grandchild!
